Send Message on Google Form Submit
How to automatically send WhatsApp message on a Google form submit?
This article describes how to set up WhatsApp message responses so that a WhatsApp notification is sent each time a new row is inserted into a Google sheet containing Google form responses (on future Google form Submits, etc.).
Step 1: Start Walution add-on
From your Google form response sheet, start Walution add-on by clicking on Extensions > Walution > Start to open the Sheet dialog box for the Form Responses 1 tab.
NOTE: For messages to be sent automatically on a Google form submit, it is important that one of the fields on the Google form is the phone numbers of the recipients, and that this is set as Required (see screenshot below).
Step 2: Select Phone number column
From the WhatsApp Number drop-down menu, select the Phone number column.
All rows in this column must have a valid phone number (except the column name). For information on formatting phone numbers, refer to this article.
Step 3: Type WhatsApp message
Type WhatsApp message.
Step 4: Personalize WhatsApp message
Personalize WhatsApp message by clicking in a desired location within the message template, selecting a field from the Add Personalized Field drop-down menu, then clicking on Add. Repeat this step as required.
Personalized fields are the column names found in the first row of data in the Google sheet (the questions from the Google form, etc.). WhatsApp message can be further customized by formatting the message text and adding attachments.
Step 5: Click Auto Send
Click on Auto Send to open the Options to Send Messages Automatically dialog box.
Step 6: Select Automatically send a message
From the On a Google Form Submit drop-down menu, select Automatically send a message.
It is only possible to select Automatically send a message from the On a Google Form Submit drop-down menu, if a Google sheet containing Google form responses was selected in Step 1.
Step 7: Click Save in Sheet dialog box
Click on Save & Close.
Finally, click on Save in the Sheet dialog box to activate automatic WhatsApp messages in response to future Google form submits.
Deactivate Automatic WhatsApp Messages
To deactivate automatic WhatsApp messages, click on Auto Send in the Sheet dialog box.
In the Options to Send Messages Automatically dialog box, select Do nothing from the On a Google Form Submit drop-down, then click on Save & Close.
Click on Save in the Sheet dialog box to deactivate automatic WhatsApp messages in response to future Google form submits.
